Hello friends and followers,
This time of year, I think about all of the animals who are homeless. Mom came home recently and told me all about Patches, a dog belonging to a homeless woman living on 52nd Street and Avenue of the Americas.. Mom took three pictures of them and gave Patches’ Mom a helping hand. She said she is supposed to be getting a new home soon. I hope that happened.
Here is PATCHES — isn’t he a cutie?
Mom said he kept on trying to kiss her! Oh how sweet!
There are 11 facts about Animal Homelessness at www.DoSomething.org. Do Something is one of the largest organizations for young people and social change. You can explore campaigns, and as they say, “sign up for a campaign and make the world suck less”.
some of the facts:
1) Only 1 out of every 10 dogs born will find a permanent home.
2) Homeless animals outnumber homeless people 5 to 1 (wow, this is big!)
3) 25% of dogs that enter local shelters are purebred (this is a surprise)
Also, this is another organization that you might want to look at and see if you want to help, if you can:
www.petsofthehomeless.org – a nonprofit volunteer organization that provides pet food and veterinary care to the homeless in local communities across the United States and Canada.
