Two classically trained cellists became a hit on YouTube in 2011 with the cover of “Smooth Criminal”.
The cellists, Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, are Croatian. They met at a masterclass in Croatia, while still in their teens. In time people thought of them as rivals. Sulic studied at the Academy of Music in Zageb, Vienna and continued at London’s Royal Academy of Music. Hauser attended the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester after completing his studies at Trinity College in London – Wikipedia
I saw them interviewed a few nights ago on Aljazeera America by John Siegenthaler. They exude charm and wit, not to mention they are very handsome and engaging. They discussed the cello and how it is available for all kinds of music, not only classical. They obviously have stepped out of the box by combining Hard Rock, with Baroque music, I saw a clip of them playing with rock bands. I found their ideas refreshing so I ordered their latest CD.
