A German film, Starring Nina Hoss, Ronald Zehrfeld, Michael Maertens, Kirsten Block and Imogen Kogge
Directed by Christian Petzold, release date, July, 2015
After undergoing reconstructive plastic surgery, a concentration camp survivor in post war Germany tries to find out if her husband betrayed her to the Nazis. This film is a haunting portrait of identity, loss and the search for answers. This is a morbidly romantic drama that builds to a perfect ending. I highly recommend this film and urge everyone to see it.
I also recommend reading the review of the film by A.O. Scott, The New York Times, July 23, 2015
Created by Sam Esmail and starring Rami Malek, Carly Chaikin, Portia Doubleday, Martin Wallstrom and Christian Slater.
Season 1 has just finished and I have started streaming this series (9 episodes) on Amazon Prime Video, and season 2 has already been renewed.
The story line: a young anti-social computer programmer, Elliot, works as a cyber security engineer at his day job and a vigiante hacker at night. He is recruited by a mysterious leader of an underground group of hackers. This young man, Elliot Alderson, is constantly struggling with a social anxiety disorder and clinical depression. The way he connects to people is by hacking them. Rami Malek does an outstanding job as Elliot, his face and voice are compelling and mysterious and full of pathos. I really like his character.
It is a fabulous new binge-watching opportunity for all of you bingers out there.
