When his colleagues blast off from Mars, they think that Astronaut Mark Watney has been killed after a deadly storm.

The beauty of this film is the cleverness of this Mark Watney, who has been left behind and must deal with a hostile red planet if he wants to survive. That is what I liked most about this story. The stranded astronaut must use all his wits and boy does his expertise as a botanist fill that need. I loved when he planted rows of potatoes and how he did it. This was the highlight of the film to me. The ending is pretty nifty and exciting too.

This is a charming film, always cheerful, with the hero finding ingenious ways of surviving; always improvising and moving forward is the extraordinary key to his success.
