Hominy Grill

I went to  this cool place with two other foodies and we shared small plates.  It is a restored barbershop with a comfort food menu of Southern fare.

Our lunch was what we thought was a good cross-section of the food:  fried green tomatoes, shrimp with grits, southern fried chicken and okra with jambalaya rice and tomatoes.

Our favorite was the fried chicken.

We had a Pinot Gris to accompany the food.

PearlZ

A basic oyster bar, down home, very comfortable featuring oysters, fish cakes and fresh catch. I really enjoyed my meal there.  I had a selection of oysters, local, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, British Columbia.  The last were my favorite.

I also had a Small Plate of Grilled Charleston Pink Snapper, roasted red pepper Romesco sauce, late fall zucchini ratatouille, baby spinach and toasted almonds.

The special soup was saffron-tomato shellfish bisque.

The raw bar deluxe seafood plateau was 9 varietal oysters, 6 peel and eat shrimp , 6 local clams, 1/2 lobster, calico scallop ceviche, tuna tartar, pastrami smoked salmon and chilled mussels.

FIG

What a fabulous restaurant, possibly one of the best I have had the pleasure of experiencing.  In a word the food was sublime.

We sat at the bar and started with a divine cocktail called A MOVEABLE FEAST

My appetizer was the Pumpkin Soup and my entree was the Skate, a fish I adore.
